Q: What have you done for drugs?

A: While I was in vertical position, I went to jail 8 times on drug/alcohol charges/convictions, got sent to a mental institution 2 times, OD’d and nearly died 1 time, lost my job and my career, lost all of my friends, lost my husband and only son and, finally, my family gave up on me too—all for the love of drugs.

While I was in a horizontal position, I did all sorts of unmentionable things—all for the love of drugs.

Because addicts love what we are addicted to more than anything or anyone else, we typically hold onto false beliefs until we hit bottom and are forced to face the reality that the love of our life does not love us at all and may, in fact, be trying to kill us—all for the love of drugs.
