Never give money to an active addict. Money will just get transformed into more of whatever an addict is addicted to.

Encourage an active addict to get an addiction recovery sponsor—because quitting is easy and so is relapsing.

My 6 years of addiction recovery research with thousands of actual drug addicts and alcohol addicts (alcoholics) like me found that the #1 reason addicts relapse is their failure to get an addiction recovery sponsor to help the them learn the ins and outs of how to get clean and sober, how to stay clean and sober, and why getting and staying clean and sober is worth the effort—assuming the addict 1) actually wants to become happy and satisfied with his life and 2) has not suffered so much brain damage from drug and/or alcohol abuse that the self-reflection addiction recovery requires becomes impossible.
